NEEDS & UYEGP Subsidy Calculator 2026 (Tamil Nadu): Compare with PMEGP

Tamil Nadu runs two state self-employment schemes on top of the central PMEGP. NEEDS (New Entrepreneur-cum-Enterprise Development Scheme) gives first-generation entrepreneurs aged 21–35 a 25% capital subsidy up to ₹75 lakh plus 3% interest subvention on projects of ₹10 lakh to ₹5 crore. UYEGP (Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme) gives 25% subsidy up to ₹3.75 lakh on projects up to ₹15 lakh for youth with family income up to ₹5 lakh. The calculator below checks all three and tells you which gives the most money. SC/ST entrepreneurs should also check AABCS (35% subsidy).

Which one should you pick?

  • Project above ₹15 lakh and you are 21–35 with +2 or more: NEEDS usually wins because of the higher cap and the 3% interest subvention.
  • Small project up to ₹15 lakh with family income under ₹5 lakh: UYEGP and PMEGP give similar subsidy; PMEGP rural gives more (25–35%) than UYEGP (25%, max ₹3.75 lakh).
  • Above age 35 (general) or 45 (special): only PMEGP is open.
  • You can take only one subsidy scheme for the same unit; earlier PMEGP/UYEGP beneficiaries cannot apply for NEEDS.
