Free estimate, not approval. Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA), Government of Assam: ₹2 lakh (general) or ₹5 lakh (professional), half grant and half interest-free loan, paid by DBT. Official portal: cmaaa.assam.gov.in. Rules verified on 11 Oct 2026.
Example: ₹5.5 lakh boutique in Jorhat
Rina, 32, a graduate from Jorhat (OBC, general category), wants to start a tailoring and boutique unit costing ₹5.5 lakh. CMAAA gives her ₹2 lakh: a ₹1 lakh grant (₹75,000 first, ₹25,000 after training) and a ₹1 lakh interest-free loan. She adds ₹50,000 of her own and takes a ₹3 lakh bank loan at 11% for 5 years (EMI about ₹6,523). From the fourth year she repays the CMAAA loan at about ₹1,667 a month. A bank loan of ₹1 lakh at 11% would have cost her about ₹30,455 in interest; so the grant plus the free loan are worth roughly ₹1.3 lakh to her.
Second case: a 35-year-old engineer in Silchar (professional category) planning a ₹11 lakh repair-and-service workshop gets ₹5 lakh (₹2.5 lakh grant + ₹2.5 lakh loan at ₹4,167 a month from year 4), puts in ₹1 lakh and borrows ₹5 lakh from a bank (EMI about ₹10,871 at 11%, 5 years).
