Under Indiramma Indlu, Telangana pays ₹5 lakh to build a house on your own site, in four stages: about ₹1 lakh at basement level, ₹1 lakh at roof level, ₹2 lakh when the roof slab is cast and ₹1 lakh on completion. Note: when the scheme began, the minister announced ₹1 lakh / ₹1.25 lakh / ₹1.75 lakh / ₹1 lakh. The government’s own release figures in 2025 (₹462 crore for 46,206 houses at roof level and ₹331.5 crore for 16,576 houses at slab) work out to ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh per house, so we show that split*. The total is ₹5 lakh either way.
Who gets an Indiramma house
- Families in Telangana without a pucca house, with a white ration card (food security card)*.
- Priority: landless poor, those with their own site, SC/ST, widows, disabled persons, and Telangana movement families*.
- The house must be at least 400 sq ft with an RCC roof, kitchen and toilet*.
- Applications came through Praja Palana; beneficiaries are chosen in gram sabhas / ward sabhas and lists are shown at the panchayat*.
- L1 = own site, L2 = no site (government site later), L3 = already has a house or not eligible*.
If an instalment is stuck
- Check the status on the Indiramma Indlu site (indirammaindlu.telangana.gov.in) with your application or Aadhaar number.
- Ask the housing AE / MPDO whether your stage photo was uploaded and approved.
- Make sure your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded (NPCI) and active; DBT fails otherwise.
- Releases are made weekly (Mondays)*: allow 1-3 weeks after approval.
- Still stuck? Complain at the Praja Vani / grievance cell at the collectorate.
Budgeting the build
₹5 lakh rarely covers a 400 sq ft RCC house at 2026 prices (₹1,800-2,200 per sq ft*). Plan the gap: free sand from local reaches is allowed for Indiramma houses*, and SHG women can take bank loans at low interest*. Paying masons in line with the stages keeps money and work matched.
