How ROAS is calculated
ROAS = revenue from ads ÷ ad spend. Example: a ₹50,000 budget at ₹10 per click buys 5,000 clicks. At a 2% conversion rate that is 100 orders; at ₹1,500 per order, revenue is ₹1,50,000, so ROAS is 3.0 (or 3x).
What is a good ROAS? It depends on your margin. Break-even ROAS = 1 ÷ gross margin. With a 40% margin you need a ROAS above 2.5 just to cover product cost and ad spend; with a 25% margin you need 4. Below break-even, every sale loses money even if ROAS looks “good”.
Low ROAS? Usually it is too broad targeting, weak landing pages or broken conversion tracking. Run the free Google Ads health check to find the leak.
